People

Some days, I strongly dislike the human race. I wish we lived in a world where people would say what they mean, and mean what they say. Period. It’s that simple. People don’t work like that though, they are much more complex with hidden agendas and always watching out for Number One. I guess we are all guilty of self preservation, but at what point do we stop telling others what they want to hear, and speak the good old fashioned truth of the matter?

Two months ago, I called to have a vending machine replaced in the facility. Every week I call. The answer is the same. “It will be here this week.”  Why couldn’t the guy just say, “I have no idea of when, if ever, you will get it.” Period.

For over eight months, I have been chasing a family member who has not paid their bill to the facility. I call him, he replies, “I almost have her house sold, and will have the funds to you this month.” Why couldn’t he say, “I have no idea, if and when, you will ever receive payment ” ? Period.

For months I have told the same employee the same thing over and over and over and over. He nods his head, says he understands and “It won’t happen again”. Yet, he is unchanged in his behavior. Why couldn’t he just say, ” I am not changing this, not today or ever for that matter.”? Period.

For days I have fought with a flooring contractor over new flooring that is not wearing well. The flooring came with a 25 year “warranty”.  I have taken pictures, sent emails, called everyone this side of glory and recieved the same response. ” We will send someone out to check it out and get back with you.”  Why not just tell me ” Lady, you get what you pay for; the warranty is only for a defect, not wear and tear. We have no intention of refunding you? Period.

For over two weeks, the water system has malfunctioned. I called the guy who said, ” It’s covered under the service plan, I will send someone over right away.”   Why not say, “I will get to you when I can, and that will be no time soon?” Period.

Life would be so much easier if we all just said what we meant, and meant what we said. Period.
